Not a Dubai villa. Limestone, oak, a small pool in the courtyard. The peninsula day was private — we were not on a bus. Sunset from the balcony was grey Caspian, which is the real colour.

The house is quiet. The walk to the beach is a walk, not a private shore. Lunch on the peninsula was the better half of the stay.
