An architect-owned beach house one street behind the Pirshaghi dunes. Low limestone, timber screens, courtyards against the Absheron wind, wild grass instead of lawn. Three bedrooms open to the court; the master has a stone bath and a small garden. The roof is the view: cushions, lanterns, the Caspian horizon. No pool.

The space

Three bedrooms, three baths, courtyards, roof terrace. Sleeps six. Parking. Wind. Beach is a short walk through the dunes.

Guest access

The house, courtyards and roof. Aydin meets you. No resort wristband.

Silence, wild grass, a roof to the Caspian. Breakfast on an empty beach at six. The house does not pretend to be a resort.

Wind on the terrace is real Absheron wind. No pool, and we did not want one. The stone bath in the master is the room.

Low house, courtyards, timber screens. Aydin had the dawn timing. We slept until four.

  • My work: Built the dune house in Pirshaghi

The house sits one street behind the dunes. Wind is the architecture. I pack breakfast and we walk down before anyone is on the sand. Afternoon I take you through quieter Absheron, not the Baku checklist.
