A two-bedroom house on the edge of Gədəbəy — a highland mining town in forest, west of Ganja, not on the lake road. Vegetable patch, stove, a kitchen Aytaj actually uses. You come for the air and a table, not for a postcard.

Cool, forested, quiet after nine. We cooked one night, ate with Aytaj the other. Drive from Ganja is longer than the map suggests.
One bathroom for five if a family comes. Fine for me. Bring cash; the town is not a card town. Aytaj met the marshrutka.
Gədəbəy is a highland town — mining, forest, a long way from the lake posters. This is our house with a vegetable patch. I cook if you ask. I do not pretend we are in Göygöl.
