What these settings actually do

Booking settings are when you accept, how long a stay must be, and how much prep time you need between guests. They are not a popularity switch. Absolute has no Instant Book product. A booking confirms after the nights are open on your calendar and the guest has passed verification.

You still decide pets, children and the maximum number of people. Those rules must be on the listing before the reservation, not at the gate. Absolute verifies who is travelling. You do not interview them in a twenty-message thread to “approve” a night you already opened.

How a booking confirms

Open nights plus verification is the path. If the dates are closed, they cannot buy them. If verification is not finished, the stay does not confirm. There is no Superhost shortcut and no “book in one tap” badge that skips those steps.

Keep the calendar honest the morning you travel. A setting that allows same-day arrival only works if you can finish the rooms before 15:00. Otherwise you are writing a cancellation.

Minimum nights

A two-night minimum is normal for a house you clean yourself. A seven-night minimum belongs on a listing you actually want filled that way — a winter dacha, a long desk stay — not as a fence to keep “the wrong people” out. Guests who need one night will leave; that is the point of the setting, not a surprise.

If you raise the minimum only on holidays and leave Tuesday at two nights, say so in the house note so a family from Ganja is not guessing.

How far ahead, and same-day

How far ahead you accept is a house question. Some hosts want the month planned. Some can take a Thursday that appeared on Wednesday. Open only the window you will honour. A year of open nights you have not looked at is how a wedding week in your own family becomes a host cancellation.

Same-day booking is a promise that the rooms will be ready. If the cleaner comes at 16:00, do not sell a 15:00 arrival that day.

Prep time after checkout

Leave a turnaround night if the cleaner cannot do 11:00 to 15:00. Closing that night is cheaper than a host cancellation and a rushed house that smells of yesterday’s fish. Prep time is a setting, not a hope that “they will leave early”.

• One closed night between stays when laundry is done in the yard.
• No same-day arrival when you are the one on the marshrutka home.
• A longer gap after a week-long stay if the house needs more than a sweep.

Settings that cause cancellations

The dangerous mix is an open calendar, a short minimum, and a life that cannot host on those dates. Close the dates. Do not wait to “see who books” and then refuse. AbsoluteCover is free for you and always on the stay — it does not excuse a preventable host cancel.
