Dry grass, stoves and fire around the plot

Late summer is dry

Stubble in a field, pine needles under a camp, a wooden balcony in August — fire moves. A barrel or hose you can actually reach, a way out that is not blocked by a parked car, and ash from the stove in a metal bin, not in the grass. This is the walk before every stay in the dry months, not décor for the photograph.

Write whether guests may use a mangal, where, and when. Against a wooden wall at noon is not a place.

Stubble, stove, balcony

Field edges and village plots collect dry stalks. A spark from a stove door, a cigarette the listing forbade, a grill on a balcony in Caspian wind — those are the usual starts. Keep the cooker clear. Extinguisher in the kitchen, away from the hob, easy to see. No unattended candles. No indoor smoking if you wrote no smoking.

On the plot

A working way out of a camp or a wooden house. Rubbish off the dry grass. Water near the grill if you allow one. Tell guests not to burn garden waste on a windy day. FHN and local bans on open fire in the dry season apply to your plot as much as to the neighbour’s field — write the rule you need them to follow.

If you do not host fire at all, say so before they pay. A surprise ban at 21:00 is a fight. A silent fire under the pines is 101.

When the hills burn

Close nights you cannot reach. Tell guests not to drive into smoke. This is a weather and disruptive-event question, not a “come anyway” weekend. Photograph the road if you need us to see it. Absolute rebooks or refunds when the stay is impossible — you do not argue it in chat.

Do not take a family to a cousin’s house off-platform “just for the smoke”. Cover lives on the reservation.

FHN and the numbers

101 fire. 112 the general number. Get people out, close the door if it is safe to, stairs not a lift in a block, call from outside. Then Absolute’s 24-hour line. The house note lists 101 and 112 in the languages you host in.

After a scare

Walk the plot before you open nights: ash, the extinguisher gauge, the path, the detector. Change the listing if the hillside is still smoking. A first photograph of a green garden while the lane is ash is how the next file starts.
