Prepare your home for guests

Comfort first

Stock the simple things: toilet paper, soap, one towel and pillow per guest, clean linen on every bed they were shown. Think through each room they will use, not only the bedroom in the photographs. Absolute photographs the house as it is. You keep it that way between stays.

You do not need a hotel kit. You need a house a guest can live in for two nights without sending you a list. If heating is only in winter, they still need a blanket they can find in the dark.

Room by room

Kitchen: a way to boil water, glasses, a few basics if you offer cooking. Living room: a place to sit the number of guests you listed, a light they can turn on without hunting. Bedroom: a mattress you would sleep on, a light they can reach from the bed. Bathroom: soap, a working drain, a hook for a towel. White towels are easiest to keep honest between stays.

If the stay is a camp or a nature house, the same honesty applies. A wash block down the path is fine if the listing says so and the path is walkable at night. Do not invent a private shower in the tent.

Tidy, not emptied of you

You do not need to remove every personal thing. Books, a rug, a family photograph make the stay a home. Put jewellery, passports and cash in a locked cupboard or take them with you. Leave drawer space for a guest’s clothes and a clear floor for a suitcase.

Clear the surfaces they will cook and wash at. Guests notice a kettle they can find — and a sink they cannot use. Small appliances they will need can stay out; the rest can sit in a cupboard. AbsoluteCover covers guest damage on an Absolute Stays reservation. It does not replace a locked drawer.

Clean as if a review depends on it

It does. Cleanliness is one of the first things guests write. Wash bedding, test hot water, heating and wifi. Walk the path they will walk at night. Leave a way in that you have already tried yourself. Dust, sweep, mop. Bathrooms and kitchens decide the review more than the sofa.

If stays turn around the same day, close a night on the calendar rather than rushing a dirty house. Checkout is 11:00 and check-in is 15:00 unless the listing says otherwise. That is four hours, not a full laundry day. Keep a second set of linen. If a cleaner cannot finish before 15:00, the next guest photographs a wet floor.

A way in they can use

Confirm how they get in — you at the gate, a neighbour, a code — the day they book, not the hour they arrive. If the path is dark or the village has no street names, send one pin and one landmark. Online check-in should already show you who is coming. In Azerbaijan, booking guests complete SIMA. Other guests are biometric verified.

House rules belong on the listing before the booking: quiet hours, smoking, extra overnight visitors, where cars park. A rule you invent at the door is a complaint, not hospitality.

If something is missing

If Absolute Stays standards need an item you do not have, we may bring a starter package when we photograph. Tell us early. Do not invent an amenity in the listing that is not in the house. Guests book what they see; AbsoluteCover stands behind that same honesty.
